What, if anything, would make a Planet Explode from within?

All Planets, we know, have a core of some sort! what could de-stabilise this to the Point that the Actual Planet Explodes from within! and, if this happened, what would be the time scale of this catastrophic event! and would anything be able to survive on the Remnants!
